Websites & technical work
Hundreds of sites built, rebuilt and migrated. WordPress and WooCommerce. Templates, plugins, redirects, indexing and the technical details that become very important when something breaks.
About searchency
We’ve been doing this work since 2007, across websites, SEO, marketing and digital businesses. searchency grew out of seeing what AI could change about that work, and what it couldn’t.
AI made research faster, production cheaper and scale dramatically easier. It didn’t remove the need to understand the business, make good decisions or take responsibility for what goes live.
That’s the gap searchency was built to fill.
Background
The people behind searchency have worked in digital business since 2007, across websites, SEO, marketing, content, eCommerce and strategy.
We’ve worked with businesses and projects across the United States, Canada and Europe, from small company websites to shops with large catalogues and complex technical requirements.
2000s
Websites, WordPress, eCommerce, migrations and the technical work required to keep things running.
2010s
SEO, content, search demand, site structure and the growing complexity of competing for organic traffic.
2020s
Positioning, customer behaviour, conversion, content systems and the economics of digital acquisition.
Now
Research, analysis, production and automation at a scale that previously required much larger teams.
Experience
Hundreds of sites built, rebuilt and migrated. WordPress and WooCommerce. Templates, plugins, redirects, indexing and the technical details that become very important when something breaks.
SEO, search demand, existing-page optimisation, site structure, editorial content and the relationship between pages across a site.
Competitors, customers, offers, messaging and the uncomfortable fact that better rankings don’t automatically make a weak proposition more attractive.
Repeatable processes, structured information, QA and the problem of producing large amounts of work without losing control of the result.
AI changed the speed and economics of this work. It didn’t create the expertise behind it.
What changed
Research can be assembled faster. Thousands of products can be processed systematically. Different models can handle different parts of a job. Large amounts of context can be carried through a production workflow.
That opened up work that previously would have been too slow, too repetitive or too expensive to do properly.
Research, competitors, search data, business information and existing content can all inform the work.
A workflow can operate across 10 pages, 1,000 products or tens of thousands of structured records.
Research, production, review and improvement can happen much faster.
But faster production also makes it possible to produce the wrong thing at extraordinary scale.
What didn’t change
Which problems matter? Which opportunities are worth pursuing? Which recommendations should be ignored?
What does the company actually sell? Why do customers choose it? What can be claimed truthfully?
Is the output accurate, specific, useful and something the business should be comfortable publishing?
When something is wrong, “the model wrote it” isn’t an answer.
We use AI to do more work. We don’t use it to avoid responsibility for the work.
Why searchency
A lot of AI products make sophisticated capabilities available to businesses, and then leave the business to operate them.
Someone still has to understand the reports, choose the opportunities, create the right context, manage the prompts, review the output, coordinate implementation and decide what happens next.
We thought there was room for another model: use the same technological leverage, but put it in the hands of people whose job is already SEO, marketing and websites.
The AI is ours to manage. The result is ours to answer for.
Principles
More content is useful only when missing content is actually the problem.
A page already ranking on page two may be worth more than twenty new articles.
The process for five critical pages shouldn’t be the process for 50,000 products.
People compare offers, claims and businesses after they click. Rankings are part of the job, not the whole job.
Models will change. Software will change. The job remains understanding the problem and producing useful work.
Fit
A relatively small number of important pages where search, positioning, content and conversion overlap.
Products, categories and catalogues where technical structure and production scale become part of the SEO problem.
Migrations, large content sets, structured production, traffic loss, technical problems or projects that don’t fit neatly into an SEO package.
You already have strong SEO expertise internally, know exactly what needs producing and mainly need another software tool. In that case, buying the right tool directly may make more sense.
Remote by default
searchency works remotely with English-language businesses. Research, production and implementation don’t require the client and the team to share an office, only enough context to understand the business properly.
